A CRITICAL LOOK AT EPHESIANS 4:11-16
WHAT DOES THE BIBLE TEACH ABOUT SHEEEP?
This is part #2 of our series of studies exploring 3 key groups of people Shepherds, sheep, and wolves. In that teaching we discussed the Shepherds jumping off at Ephesians 4:11-16 with Paul’s description of different roles within the church and their responsibilities.
Let’s review a few key points from that teaching:
The shepherd is not God, he is a man. We are not to look to him as perfect, we are not to expect him to be perfect.
Shepherds, you are to lead (to the Master’s fold), protect (in the strength and wisdom of YHVH), keep (in the character and nature of the Good Shepherd), and feed (with the word and wisdom of YHVH) the flock.
Flock, your shepherd is not the show. Don’t elevate him to a position he does not belong in.
Shepherds, you lead the flock to the Messiah; you are not to gather the sheep, they are not yours, yourself; they are His.
Sheep, don’t damage and harm your shepherds. Their work is hard enough.
Shepherds, model the character and nature of the Great and Good Shepherd the flock. Don’t let past Trauma, hurts, and fatigue cause you to lash out or harm the flock you are supposed to lead.
